I am going to put an solex 34 in my HY78 from 1970, an former owner of the van used a weber instead, worked no good...

So, i´m putting the original stuff in, but now i need an advise. What is the air filter supposed to look like?

I´ve been working on my HY today and i could really not find that hole you guys were talking about.. Can anyone give me a clue were to find that hole? (to put the 6mm pen in to be able to adjust the ignition..)

Hi, no - the´re exacltly the same age. 78 is part of the model number and has something to do with the size of the engine (if thats what confused yuo) but the car is from 1970...

Hallo. I have this carburator from weber (with two gates, ports or whatever the correct term is..) and i wonder if it was mounted in my HY78 -70 at the citroën factory or if it has been mounted later.. What about you other guys, do you all have Solex carburators?

Hey Pim, right - that´s what i meant. And right - you do need to adjust the ignition roughly before using the strobe. In this case i will use the your method (from now on i will always refere to it as the Time-Pin-Pim-Pen-Method..) and then maybe check what it looks like with the stroboscope (for ...

No, it´s of course not a silly question. In some cars (my old Saab for example) there are marks at the flywheel but also a mark at some part of the engine that does not move.

Your description was very instructive, the main thing i've learned from you is that i have no use for my stroboscope. This is supposed to be done the old fashion way with the engine turned of. It sounds quite much like adjusting the ignition on my moped. Thank you so much!
